New HI6800 Weight Controller

Weight-based Application Control

Important Considerations When Choosing A Digital Weight Indicator

Installing a new scale, or replacing an existing weighing system, gives you the opportunity not just to upgrade to the latest in technology. This is true with all components of the weighing system, including the digital weight indicator. These devices range from the very basic --providing only the weight readout-- to a more advanced options that can connect to your industrial manufacturing system, either PC, PLC or DCS. These will not only display the weights at the scale but also transfer information to the manufacturing system.

Size of the Device

The size of the digital weight indicator is important in many different applications. It needs to be large enough, if used as a standalone weight indicator or controller, to be easily seen and read. If the digital weight indicator is being used as a way to adjust the scale through the keyboard, or button features, it has to be designed with that in mind. Entering data, or making adjustments to the scale should not be problematic. For some applications, a web-based interface allows changes to the indicator without touching any buttons at all.

Size can also be a factor of how close to the scale, or the operator, the readout will be located. Our systems are designed with backlighting, so they are very easy to read even from a distance.

Readout Type

Many of these indicators are designed to be used in typical, artificial-light situations. However, not all production-and-manufacturing is the same. At Hardy Process Solutions we offer several different models and designs, with options to change the digital input/output to match your requirements.

We also allow a variety of different speeds to update the system, or the reading. This can be at a rate of 250 times per second, which can provide the optimum level monitoring for complex compute-intensive applications such as filling, dispensing or monitoring rate by weight.

Washdown

A NEMA 4 or 4X system made of stainless steel allows for washdown. This allows the digital weight indicator to be used in food safe environments or for use with a bench scale. The same protections that make it safe during washdown also protect from dust and other types of environmental contamination.

It is important to consider everything from ease of installation, to the features that come integrated into the digital weight indicator. We offer different interfaces to connect to the control system, and we also use our WAVESAVER® technology to enhance a stable reading by up three times, leading to greater efficiency.
