HI6850-DCWC Dynamic Check Weighing Controller
Purpose-built for high-speed static and dynamic check weighing applications, the HI6850-DCWC delivers fast, accurate weight measurements to help reduce product giveaway, improve quality, and maximize production efficiency. Whether building a new check weighing system or retrofitting outdated electronics, the HI6850-DCWC provides a reliable solution for demanding production environments.
WHAT'S NEW WITH THE HI6850-DCWC
Built on the proven HI6850 platform, the HI6850-DCWC combines high-speed processing with dedicated check weighing firmware, dual Ethernet connectivity, enhanced vibration immunity, simplified Rockwell Automation integration through an EDS Add-On Profile, and a modern color touchscreen interface for easier configuration and operation.
HIGH-SPEED CHECK WEIGHING PERFORMANCE
Process up to 250 weight measurements per second at high resolution (1:30,000) for precise static and dynamic check weighing applications. The HI6850-DCWC supports up to eight analog load cells, making it ideal for both new installations and upgrades to existing systems requiring fast, repeatable weight measurements.
AUTOMATIC EDGE DETECTION
The HI6850-DCWC automatically determines the optimal moment to capture a weight reading by monitoring changes in the load signal waveform. This intelligent EDGE Detection technology begins processing as soon as the product settles on the scale and can also work alongside external devices such as photo-eyes to further optimize weighing accuracy and process timing. Auto Checkweigh Mode enables seamless operation without the need for adjustment timers or photo-eyes in many applications.
OPEN PLATFORM & EASY INTEGRATION
Integrate the HI6850-DCWC into your existing control architecture using standard industrial protocols, including EtherNet/IP. A Rockwell Automation EDS Add-On Profile simplifies PLC configuration, reducing engineering time and making commissioning faster. An embedded web server and dual Ethernet ports provide convenient access for setup, diagnostics, and ongoing maintenance.
MODULARITY AND EASE OF INSTALLATION
Configure the HI6850-DCWC to fit the application:
- With or without display
- EtherNet/IP or PROFINET communications
- Panel, wall, or DIN-rail mount
- AC or DC power
The controller can be deployed in a variety of mounting configurations to meet the needs of both new equipment and retrofit installations.
CORE TECHNOLOGIES
WAVERSAVER® and WAVERSAVER+® actively suppress vibration and mechanical noise, reducing scale settling time while delivering fast, stable, and accurate weight readings. C2® Electronic Calibration enables calibration in minutes without traditional test weights. When paired with a Hardy IT Junction Box, INTEGRATED TECHNICIAN® (IT) provides advanced weighing system diagnostics, allowing users to monitor load cells, isolate faults, and troubleshoot directly from the instrument or a web browser.

THE HARDY PROCESS TOOLBOX
The Hardy Process Toolbox is a set of productivity tools that support industrial weighing functions. Each tool saves time, increases accuracy, improves efficiency, or reduces risk in process weighing applications, including WAVERSAVER® to eliminate vibration, C2® electronic calibration, and Integrated Technician® to name just a few.
The HI 4050 features the following Toolbox technologies:
C2® (or eCAL) Electronic Calibration
The Hardy C2® (or eCAL as it is known in China) core feature provides quick and easy electronic calibration of a weighing system without the need for heavy test weights.
INTEGRATED TECHNICIAN® Operator Diagnostics
Hardy's INTEGRATED TECHNICIAN (IT) core feature helps you troubleshoot your weighing system and diagnose problems from the front of the instrument or via the PLC. These tests display system weights, voltages, and pass/fail displays to help isolate a problem to the instrument, cabling, or sensors, helping to reduce maintenance costs.
WAVERSAVER® vibration eliminator
Hardy's WAVERSAVER core technology eliminates the effects that surrounding vibration has on the scale weight signal, providing only true data for fast, accurate weight reading.
WAVERSAVER+
A patent pending dynamic algorithm that improves the stability of static weight readings by 3X.
Embedded Web Server
Access your instrument from any computer browser, easing setup and making diagnostics fast and easy. Use the Embedded Web Server to set up all parameters from anywhere on the Ethernet network.
Secure Memory Module Stores Configuration Data
Hardy's Secure Memory Module (SMM) uses a standard MicroSD card to automatically back up critical weighing system data, allowing you to transfer it to another like controller in a few minutes. You can also use the card to easily back up your controller data onto a PC.
